Description

Matheson, Inc. is looking for an experienced Automation Technician to fill our Atlanta, GA location as we expand to new heights and support our growing business. APPLY HERE: The Automation Technician will oversee the safe operation, daily monitoring and maintenance of the Surface Transfer Center. The Automation Technician will have direct oversight over all material handling equipment including conveyor system and overall maintenance and safety. The Automation Technician will test, install, repair and integrate specialized solutions to process letter mail, flats and parcels for the United States Postal Service (USPS). These customized solutions involve material handling equipment, customized high-speed electrical circuits, advanced character recognition technology, sophisticated machines, safety and robotics. Automation Technician will have prior controls automation experience in several of these fields. Job Requirements and Responsibilities: - Oversee and manage mechanical systems including monitoring and trending, troubleshooting and repairs (sensors, drives, belts, motors, etc.). - Planning and performing preventative maintenance within established timelines. - Responsible for logging time and materials, maintaining and managing inventory of all spare parts. - Manage safety response systems (Evacuation Protocol) and first responders point of contact. - Responsible for daily communication of all pertinent information regarding system operation and maintenance to all department managers and leadership team. - Required to interpret and understand plans and specifications, schematics, operating and maintenance manuals for systems being overseen. - Provide assistance and training to lower-level operators and support staff. Knowledge and Experience: - High school diploma or equivalent. Two years or more of Technical School education is preferred. - Strong motor controls and electrical troubleshooting experience. - Basic computer knowledge. - Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, overtime, weekends, and holidays as necessary. - Knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical & electro-mechanical systems and practical knowledge of plant electrical/mechanical systems.
