Surprisingly your post hits at exactly what has brought America to the brink of disregarding all the lives lost to defend democracy. American elections were never meant to be popularity or beauty contests. It is vital to democracy we vote for talent and technical ability. Popularity shouldn't even be remotely considered. For instance when your parents told you to not play in the street, it wasn't a popular demand but it was the wise choice. Kim Kardashian is so popular that by the time you have Googled just the first 2 letters, K and I, Google is already suggesting Kim Kardashian. But would she make a technically wise choice for an American political office? Probably much better choices. How about, Vladimir Putin, well known and popular dictator of Russia. But would he make a wise choice for American office? How about Kim Jong-un? He is well known and you cant go anywhere in North Korea without seeing a huge billboard reminding you how great and popular he is. The sooner you idiots quit voting for “popular” or against that you hate, the sooner America finds the path back to world leader. Elections are not a popularity contest. Quit voting for popular; this is not a High School home coming royalty contest. This is for real. Vote for most technical skill we can find. FU to popularity. We all know how vain popularity is.
