We are looking to hire a construction laborer who has some carpentry experience to start immediately on a commercial project. Must be able to work as an individual, or part of a team. Preferred to have experience working on a construction site. Your own tools (bags) would be preferred but not required. Pay is negotiable depending on experience General Labor Duties and Responsibilities Installing wooden structures such as roofing frames, rafters, partitions, joists and stud work Installing cabinets, shelving, fitted furniture, drywall and insulation Adding fixtures and fittings such as door handles, locks, hinges and closures Selecting lumber by size and strength to suit each job, sourcing wood to suit the customer’s budget and style Calculating the number of fasteners required for each job Liaising with clients, suppliers and other construction professionals Reading blueprints and designs to work to specifications prepared by other construction professionals, architects and building code recommendations Digging, pouring, forming and tying steel rebar Other duties as assigned General Labor Requirements and Qualifications Ability to stand and work for 8 - 12 hours per day Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs Physically able to push, pull, and twist, and carry up to 50 lbs Must be comfortable climbing up tall ladders, working at elevated levels Positive attitude and work ethic Able to work independently or as an active member of a team Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of managemen
