*Applications accepted at www.gswcf.org/careers PURPOSE: To assist in maintaining the cleanliness, safety and good repair of the council’s property and equipment. This position will be scheduled 24 hours per week between Monday-Friday at Camp Dorothy Thomas in Riverview, FL. REPORTS TO: Camp Ranger PRIMARY DUTIES: • Conducts day to day custodial and light maintenance duties. • Maintains the grounds and facilities to ensure they are clean and in proper condition to support the Girl Scout program. This will include routine cleaning and stocking of basic items used by campers, such as paper products. • General maintenance duties include but are not limited to painting, plumbing, electrical, grounds maintenance, and other related maintenance activities. • Protects camp property and identifies unauthorized persons on property. • Makes camp rounds and identifies maintenance needs. • Makes all repairs necessary as delegated by the Camp Ranger. • Works on major building projects and/or supervises such projects as directed by the Camp Ranger. • Maintains equipment, performing scheduled services and making repairs, when possible. • Participates in council events, trainings, and staff meetings. • Keeps Camp Ranger informed on status and progress of work assigned. • Performs special assignments as directed by the Camp Ranger and/or management. QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent Skilled in general property maintenance and repair, including, janitorial, plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, painting, and grounds maintenance. Good physical and mental health and stamina Ability to make concise, accurate written and oral reports Ability to work cooperatively with adults from various social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds, individually and in groups Ability to appropriately interact with children Ability to work independently Knowledge and acceptance of beliefs and principles of the Girl Scout movement; willing to register as a member of Girl Scouts of the USA Assistant Camp Ranger REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs Ability to walk, bend, stoop, sit and lift for extended periods of time Technical ability to operate equipment Ability to work in an outdoor setting with exposure to various environmental conditions Starting hourly rate: $15.00 GSWCF is an equal opportunity employer
