SheJumps and Irwin Guides present an all-ladies AIARE Level 1 Avalanche Course in Crested Butte, Colorado. The American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) is a 3-day, 24-hour introduction to avalanche hazards. With a mix of both classroom and field time, the focus of the course is to learn how to recognize hazards, how to manage and minimize them and finally how to respond in case of an emergency. SheJumps is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the participation of women and girls in outdoor activities to foster confidence, leadership, and connection to nature and community through free and low-cost outdoor education. Our vision is to unearth the potential of all women and girls through outdoor play and connection to nature.
