Description

Stay warm this holiday with a "Quilted Christmas" tour of the Perkins Stone Mansion and John Brown House. The Society will feature coverlets and quilts in two of its historic structures in December. View the first floors of the1830s structures, some of Akron's oldest, and enjoy the decorations, then marvel at the talent of the individuals who sewed or weaved the artifacts on display. Remember to visit the Wood Shed Emporium for your gift giving. With books on history for children and adults, useful wood items made from trees on the property, unique Akron items and more, you may decide to come back just to shop! Tours are by appointment per group (1, 2 or more) and must be prepaid. Masks must be worn inside Society structures. They are not required for outdoor observations as holiday lights can be seen through the windows in the Perkins Stone Mansion each evening until 7. Dates and times listed may change as reservations are made (some by telephone). Don't see a date and time that fits your group need? Call the Society at 330.535.1120 to ask if special arrangements may be made this season or in early January. Founded in 1924, the mission of Summit County Historical Society, a 501(c)3 corporation, is to preserve and interpret the history of Summit County and Akron, and to educate regional communities about the people and events that have shaped our rich history.
