Koontz Bryant Johnson Williams is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to join the dynamic growing team in our Chesapeake, Virginia office. $1,000 SIGNING BONUS to be paid when hired with commitment of one (1) year of employment. As a Survey Instrument Operator, you will assist in the collection of survey data and the maintenance of the survey instrumentation. You will be responsible for assigned surveying activities, including using the prism pole for measurements, clearing the route of the survey, and carrying survey supplies during the collection of survey data. You will work with the Party Chief to execute the survey work. As a Survey Instrument Operator, you will: • Operate electronic total station instrument run and adjust survey measuring instruments, including level, transit, theodolite, electronic measuring devices, and total stations with electronic data collecting capabilities • Take field notes of readings and observations • Operate and maintain vehicle and field equipment • Perform field and office calculations and know principles of staking and marking • Perform other related field and office duties as assigned Physical Demands: • Ability to walk several miles per day, while carrying supplies and equipment weighing more than 40 pounds • Ability to clear line with a machete, brush axe or chain saw Work Environment: • Outdoor environment • Must be able to perform job duties in a variety of terrain • Must be able to perform job duties in every type of weather, including snow, and high heat/humidity Position Requirements: • Valid driver’s license required • Knowledge of mathematics through algebra, geometry, and trigonometry; modern and office engineering terminology, equipment, practices, and principles • Basic knowledge of survey theory, including slope reduction and differential level • Ability to set up, operate, clean, adjust, and maintain survey instruments and equipment; make field notes, sketches, and calculations manually and/or using electronic equipment; drive on paved and unpaved surfaces • Great attitude and a desire to grow professionally Interested candidates please apply at.
