Atelier 4 Inc is a provider of fine-arts shipping and handling services, with over 32 years as an industry leader and providing equitable employment to talented members of the arts & logistics community. We are seeking an experienced and safe-working cargo handler for full-time employment in Long Island City (Mon – Fri, 9AM – 5PM). This is not gig work. This position does not require truck driving. The position works on our loading dock, job duties include; - Safely handle fragile cargo on/off trucks, trailers, & containers, including large crates. - Work with fork-lift, pallet-jack, J-bar, dollies, and other material-handling gear. - Complete paperwork to check-in/out freight & cargo. - Monitor other companies drivers & visitors on dock, maintain general security. - Assist art-handlers with placing/storing goods, receive basic art-handler training. Candidates should have the following qualifications: - At least 2-years’ safe-working employment experience in a warehouse/logistics setting. - Experience with fork-lift operation and securement/strapping of large/heavy cargo. - Knowledge of cargo-handling best practices, safety-conscious with blades & hand tools. - Minimum of high school degree or equivalent; minimum 21 years of age. Note: This position involves safely lifting at least 50 pounds as part of daily activities, plus the ability to work extended periods standing, bending, lifting, and/or carrying.
