Enjoy a night of Arna Bontemps poetry, swing dancing and lessons, music, and tasty Harlem-Renaissance inspired dishes. Rapides Parish Library will be kicking off December with a celebration of local son Arna Bontemps! Be sure to come to this fun and free event dressed in 1930’s Harlem Renaissance era clothing and get ready for a night of Arna Bontemps poetry, dancing and dance lessons provided by the New Orleans Who Dat Steppers as well as tasty Harlem Renaissance-inspired food. If you aren’t familiar, Rapides Reads is an annual program that the Rapides Parish Library hosts to encourage us to read, play, and learn together as a community.
