Description

Help Clean up the mess! Over recent years, a huge amount of glass bottles and aluminum cans have been discarded at two adjacent spots in the Masters School woods, known by many Dobbs Ferry kids as "Leng" and "E.S." These spots are in desperate need of a clean-up to remove as much of this as possible. The Masters School has given permission to the Dobbs Ferry Conservation Advisory Board (CAB) to organize a clean-up project together with Masters School students, Ardsley High School Ecology Club students and other members of the community who use the Masters School's woods and trails. The project would be for volunteers to fill trash bags and trash cans (provided by the CAB) with as much of this material as possible and move it a few hundred yards to a nearby CAB member's home, where it will later on be picked up during the DF Sanitation Department's weekly curb-side recycling run. It is highly recommended that participants bring work gloves to protect their hands against any sharp glass or aluminum being handled. Meet-Up Point for the Project: the southeast corner of the Masters School upper-most baseball/soccer field, at the entrance to the Masters School dump. DIRECTIONS FROM BROADWAY / ROUTE 9: drive/walk south up the Clinton Avenue hill along the Masters School campus. Turn left just after passing the Masters School tennis courts onto the Masters School campus' back entrance road. Drive all the way up to the very end of that road (staying to the right) until you come to the soccer/baseball field. The meeting point is at the end of the dirt section of the road alongside the soccer/baseball field at the entrance to the Masters School dump behind that field. See attached image from Google Earth with the blue "X" marking the meeting point.
