Register today! Short Bio: Mexican-American ActressPaulina Chávez is part of Netflix’s Fate: “The Winx Saga in Season 2,” which just completed production in County Wicklow, Ireland. The show follows the coming-of-age journey of five unlikely friends attending a magical boarding school known as Alfea. They must learn to master their magical powers, all while navigating love, rivalries and the monsters threatening their very existence. Born in El Paso, Texas, Paulina’s family moved to San Antonio when she was 6. She discovered her love of acting in local school theatre, playing the lead roles in Aladdin Jr., Beauty and the Beast Jr. and The Little Mermaid Jr. Paulina also has appeared in various local short films, voice-overs, several regional commercials and a national TV Commercial for Coca-Cola. In addition, Paulina played Carmen, in Rooster Teeth’s first drama series Day 5 and also landed the role of young Kim Kardashian in TV series, Scandal Made Me Famous. Paulina's first big opportunity came when she landed the lead role of Ashley Garcia in The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia, a Netflix multi-camera Latinx comedy series co-created by Mario Lopez and Seth Kurland. This led her to land a role in the Lifetime Christmas movie Feliz NaviDAD alongside Mario Lopez and MaryCarmen Lopez. Furthermore, Paulina was honored to be listed among the ‘50 Más Bellos de People en Español’ in 2020. Paulina’s other passion is music. She began taking vocal lessons at a young age in preparation for musicals and includes Shakira, Alejandro Fernandez, Luis Miguel and Billie Eilish among her musical influences. Her music can best be described as “alternative meets Latin pop.” Paulina also played the violin in a San Antonio-based mariachi group which she praises for helping connect to her Latin roots. When she is not acting or singing, animal lover Paulina enjoys spending time with her border collie Luna and two rescue cats, Whiskey and Bublé. She is also an advocate for the Latinx community and focuses her attention on giving back. Paulina volunteers and works with the Salvation Army on a special scholarship affording opportunities for high school seniors in the San Antonio community. Short Bio: Rick Najera is an award-winning screenwriter, actor, director, producer, sketch comedian, author, playwright, coach and national speaker with an expansive portfolio of credits in all forms of entertainment. He has received numerous industry awards for his work. From starring in films with Sidney Poitier, George Clooney and most recently Mario Lopez, to writing sketch comedy for Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx, Najera is best known for starring on Broadway in his award-winning, self-penned stageplay, Latinologues, directed by comedy legend Cheech Marin. Najera is only one of three Latinos to ever write and star in their own play on Broadway. As a screenwriter, Najera has written dozens of scripts for TV, film and the stage, starting out in the industry as a staff writer on the groundbreaking urban comedy series, In Living Color, for which he wrote more than( 30 episodes). Najera went on to write for Townsend TV (10 episodes), MAD TV (47 episodes), East Los High – a Hulu original (21 episodes) and numerous TV pilots and more. He penned the feature film Nothing Like the Holidays starring Debra Messing, Alfred Molina, John Leguizamo and Luis Guzman, which won him an ALMA Award. And was nominated by Congressman Joaquin Castro to be placed in the permanent Congressional record. Najera learned from great writers like Spike Lee, Quentin Tarantino and Scorsese to “write what you know’ and has been a pioneer in Hollywood telling his American experience, from a Latino perspective.
