Description

Step back in time and tour the Victorian splendor of the home of Charles Deere and his descendants. Due to the challenges of COVID 19 guidelines, we have made a few changes to our annual Christmas event. Deere-Wiman House will be featured this year, showcasing the Victorian home of Charles Deere. Built in 1872, the home was lived in by Charles' descendants until 1976. The house will be decked out with greens and decorations. An added bonus is a special exhibit of artifacts from the Deere-Wiman House collection, which belonged to family members. Special highlights in the exhibit include a 1930 Lionel child’s toy oven/range and an 1890’s perfume bottle. Visitors will receive an ornament making kit to commemorate their visit. Children can select a free book in the Deere-Wiman Carriage House. Admittance is based on free timed entry tickets that allow visitors to enter the Deere -Wiman House during the time for which they registered, and to explore the first and second floors. Face masks are required. Please bring a print out of your ticket for entry. Select the date and entry time for your tickets. You must enter during the 30-minute time slot selected. Then you can stay as long as you would like. On Sunday, December 5th, a Spanish language interpreter will be in the house for anyone needing translations.
