Description
Learn the secrets of capturing sound with special guest Ray Raffa! Sound is an essential element of video production – it's a powerful storytelling tool that can do everything from heightening fearful tension to punctuating slapstick comedy. Media-makers with all levels of experience are constantly faced with tough decisions about how best to design the sound of their video and audio projects. So how do we capture sound in a way that will keep our audience engaged as opposed to creating a distraction? This lecture-based workshop will give you insight on the creative techniques used by sound design professionals. Through video examples and a meticulous analysis of film history, we will seek to understand how sound adds emotional layers to a video, and how we can apply this understanding to projects of our own. ABOUT THIS SERIES This workshop is the first in a multi-part lecture series that aims to educate and empower the media-making creatives of our local community. Our hope is that this lesson will provide you with the tools you need to confidently create media that reflects the unique stories and experiences of the Bay Area’s Midpeninsula communities. All proceeds and donations collected from this event will benefit similar programs hosted through Midpen Media. ABOUT THE LECTURER Ray Raffa has been creating films and documentaries for 15 years.
