These are TWO Separate Workshops. YOU MUST REGISTER SEPARATELY FOR EACH ONE.
Part One [9 am - 12pm] is for anyone to learn more about How Trauma Impacts our functioning.
Part Two [1pm - 4pm]is for licensed professionals to review and/or add skills to their toolbelt when working with those impacted by Trauma.
DO NOT REGISTER FOR PART 2 IF YOU ARE NOT A LICENSED Therapist.
How trauma has impacted may vary but there are some common ways in which trauma impacts brain functioning. This workshop will lead participants through a framework of a healing process that is effective in trauma work. The workshop will engage participants not only in the framework but will equip with tools to utilize in practice with client. This is both lecture, experiential and interactive style learning.
Objectives:
Increase knowledge about how trauma impacts the brain and nervous systemDefine types of trauma and differentiate between interpersonal trauma (sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse) and other types/situational trauma (combat/military, natural disaster, political violence and accidents)Develop understanding on the mind and body connection in relation to treatmentLearn skills to help client develop stability, self-efficacy, and anxiety managementDevelop strategies for preventing, addressing and managing vicarious traumatization.Certificates of Attendance will be sent within 2 weeks of completion.
