Description
WAYLAND, MA — Where will Wayland park its school buses? The Board of Selectmen will soon host a community meeting to discuss the issue.
Right now, buses park at the Town Building. But the town is seeking a more permanent home for the vehicles after August 2022, which is when permission from the Zoning Board of Appeals to park the buses at the Town Building runs out.
At the same time, some town residents have raised concerns about where the buses will live due to traffic, noise and air quality concerns. According to Town Administrator Louise Miller, Wayland needs to find room for about 23 buses, 25 cars and a trailer.
"This forum will provide information on steps taken to date and solicit feedback from all stakeholders and the members of the public to assist us in developing a short term and long term plan moving forward to meet the current and future demands and needs of the town," the town said in a news release on Monday. "We look forward to a productive forum about the future of school bus parking in Wayland."
The forum will be held beginning at 8 p.m. on Dec. 6 at the Town Building, and also on Zoom at this link (password: 346818).
