Motorcyclist Killed In Kathleen Road Crash: Police

LAKELAND — A wreck on Kathleen Road Tuesday morning killed a 23-year-old motorcyclist, Lakeland police said. A Kawasaki motorcycle drove southbound on Kathleen Road near Quincy Street at 8:45 a.m., reports said. At the same time, a Hyundai car drove westbound on Quincy making a left turn onto Kathleen Road southbound, according to investigators. The motorcyclist ran into the passenger side of the Hyundai as he tried to avoid a collision, deputies said. Following the crash, the motorcycle hit a curb and a cement light pole. Medical personnel pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the crash location. The driver of the car received treatment at a local hospital. Authorities shut down the roadway for almost four hours as they investigated the wreck.
