ARLINGTON, MA — The town of Arlington has appointed Michael Ciampa its new director of Inspectional Services. Ciampa will oversee the enforcement and interpretation of the Massachusetts State Building and Town Zoning bylaws and other applicable state codes relating to building construction and design, including electrical, plumbing and gas. "I am pleased that Mike has accepted the position," Town Manager Adam Chapdelaine said in a statement. "His exemplary work as an Arlington building inspector coupled with his knowledge and expertise of state statutes and regulations is a great asset to the Town." Ciampa has been Arlington's building inspector since 2018 and was appointed interim Inspectional Services director in June. Prior to coming to Arlington, he was the owner and operator of M.J. Ciampa Construction, which specialized in residential renovations and additions. He previously served as an assistant instructor for the Greater Boston Code Consultants and holds a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Suffolk University. "Arlington is a wonderful community and I look forward to serving that community," Ciampa said. "It is my hope to improve processes and find efficiencies that make interaction with the department easier for residents, contractors, and departments."
