MERIDEN, CT — Platt High School in Meriden was locked down Tuesday morning because of a police investigation, according to police. The lockdown was imposed at 8:20 a.m. and was later lifted. According to police, officers were called to the school due to a video that was believed to have been filmed in the school Tuesday morning. The video was posted on social media and showed a student brandishing what was believed to be a firearm. The school was immediately placed on lockdown, according to police. Police formed a perimeter and secured the school. Police then worked with school administrators and staff to find the two suspects via internal video. The two suspects were found in the auditorium with a group of other students. A 16-year-old and a 15-year-old student were taken into custody and will be charged with breach of peace, according to police. Police said a prop gun was found in the auditorium and reported to be the weapon in the video. All students in the auditorium will face internal consequences, according to police. No one was injured. Police said the students are now "safe, secure and back to learning."
