GROTON, CT — A man has been charged in connection with a fight that resulted in two people being hospitalized, according to police. Police received a report of a fight in which someone was stabbed at 156 Kings Highway in Groton on Monday at 5:14 p.m.
Officers arrived, treated two victims, and identified the suspect. Danny Vandergrift, 37, of 243 Rope Ferry Road, Waterford, was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of second-degree threatening, disorderly conduct, and violation of conditions of release.
He was held held on a $100,000 bond pending an assigned court appearance.
The two victims, a man and a woman, suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London for further treatment.
Police said the three people involved all knew each other. Vandergrift and the male victim had a verbal argument that turned physical. Vandergrift then pulled out a knife and threatened both victims.
As the woman attempted to separate the two, she was cut on the hand and the man suffered an ear injury.
