NEWARK, NJ — The search continues for a 52-year-old Newark man who went missing before Thanksgiving week, authorities say.
On Tuesday, the Newark Department of Public Safety confirmed that police are still searching for John Smith, who was reported missing on Nov. 19.
According to police, Smith, who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, was last seen at 89 Longfellow Avenue around 10:30 p.m. wearing a sweatshirt with a blue hood, brown khaki pants and New Balance sneakers. He is 5 feet 9 inches and 190 pounds, and has brown eyes, brown hair and a grey beard.
Smith is known to frequent Penn Station and South Orange Avenue, police added.
Detectives said they continue to investigate and are seeking the public's help finding Smith. Anyone with information on his whereabouts can call the division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Anonymous tips can also be made using the police division's website at www.newarkpublicsafety.org. or through its smartphone app.
