Description
Research facility seeking an entry level laboratory animal care technician. Looking for part time (20-25 hours/week) or full time (40 hours/week) December 2021 and January 2022.
The ideal candidate will be dedicated, compassionate, detail oriented and self motivated. As a laboratory animal care technician you will work in a fast paced environment. Work hours are between 8 am and 4:30 pm.
Responsibilities:
* Assure the safety and humane treatment of all animals.
* Perform routine animal health observations.
* Report any animal health concerns to the Attending Veterinarian.
* Provide all animals with daily interaction and socialization.
* Follow all standard operating procedures and protocols.
* Perform basic animal husbandry such as feeding, watering, kennel/cage cleaning, litter pan cleaning and cage washing.
* Keep the facilities neat, clean and sanitary.
* Perform animal health treatments and restraint procedures
* Maintain records in an accurate and legible manner.
* Assist veterinarians with varied duties as assigned.
* Other duties as assigned.
* Must be able and willing to work Saturday and/or Sunday and some holidays.
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Attention to detail.
* Animal care experience and a background in animal science or biology is preferred but not required.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
