Job Summary: The Education Coordinator will provide administrative support to the Education Department and serve as an on-site liaison for our Drama Club, Summer Camp, and NSTEP programs. This individual will field inbound calls pertaining to our education programs and respond to questions and concerns from both parents and students. The individual will also be responsible for teaching occasional classes, and traveling to each of our Summer Camp and NSTEP community partner locations to ensure our Teaching Artists are supported. With a $1 million annual budget, Theatre Horizon produces an ambitious season of plays, musicals and concerts for the general public, while educating nearly 1,000 children annually in the Philadelphia suburbs via our drama classes. Theatre Horizon is located in Norristown and serves a diverse array of stakeholders. Like most theatre companies in this moment, we are asking big questions about our purpose during and after the pandemic and are seeking to innovate in ways that prioritize our values. Duties include: Program ManagementHelps design and implement the Summer Drama Camp, Drama Club, and One-Day workshop programs.Serves as primary liaison between Theatre Horizon and our partner schools and organizations which includes scheduling programs and taking care of all logisticsOrganizes and delivers supply and facility needs for education programs.Hosts final showcases.Communicates details of all programs to families, partners, teaching artists, and Theatre HorizonCreates, maintains, reports on and works within program budgets.Submits weekly payroll and invoice requests, plus manages payment tracking as needed.Provides information to keep our website and marketing materials up to date.Organizes program orientations and professional development opportunities.Be “on call” for last minute substitute teaching needs in NSTEP, Drama Clubs, Summer Drama Clubs and workshops Administrative Support/Other On-site administrator some Saturday mornings for the Autism Drama program.Assists with scheduling teaching artists for Autism DramaAids Education Director in following up on leads for program enrollment and partnership opportunities Writes and sends contracts to Teaching Artists and aids Education Director in contracting Community PartnersManages Teaching Artist background clearances and employment paperwork.Hires and contracts qualified Teaching Artists and aids Education Director with recruitment.Serves as a thought partner for curriculum planningAssists with program survey creation and data entryAssists with drafting welcome emails, creating Zoom links for classes, and following up with families and participantsWorks with the Audience Services Manager to market programs when necessary including assisting in the development of education emails in MailChimp.All other duties as assigned by the Education DirectorEXPERIENCE: Experience working with children is required. Previous work related to the arts/culture sector is highly desirable.History working with a wide variety of people and personalities; ability to create and facilitate a welcoming and comfortable environment.Proven track record of providing high level customer service with excellent interpersonal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Proficiency working in Google Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, Docs, Forms and Sheets) KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent written / oral communication skills.Strong organizational and problem solving skills.Keen attention to detail and follow through. Ability to prioritize tasks, take initiative, and stay organized, with flexibility to take direction when departmental priorities shift. Impeccable record-keeping abilities.Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.Ability to work in a fast paced environment.Interest in the performing arts & culture sector.Interest in interpersonal work, including contact with the public. Dedication and drive to succeed, willingness to support Theatre Horizon as a whole.Ability to work in a hands-on environment with limited resources.Work environment: We value work/life balance and maintaining flexible schedules. A combination of working in the office and from home may be possible. Theatre Horizon is dedicated to building an actively antiracist and creative environment. Compensation: This position will be paid $32,000/year. We do not provide health insurance but employee will receive a $412.50/month stipend. Employees also receive complimentary tickets for all season productions, paid leave, paid vacation and holidays off.
