ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a youth with a knife, a dog bite, a sofa theft, an employment scam, an intoxicated customer, house damage and curfew violations. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Youth with knife Police responded to a disturbance about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at 7-Eleven, 572 S. York St. Officers found a youth suspect who was wanted from a previous incident in which he displayed a knife at the store. A store employee told police that the youth displayed a pocket knife when he was asked to leave. The youth left the store after purposely knocking over a counter display. The youth was charged with disorderly conduct, trespassing and possession of alternative nicotine products by a minor. He was released to his parents. Dog bite A man informed police Wednesday that he was bitten by a dog about 4 p.m. a day earlier at Elm Creek Apartments, 1 Elm Creek Drive. The man said he notified management about the incident. Intoxicated visitor A person asked to speak with his ex-girlfriend about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at Chick-fil-A, 235 S. Route 83. His ex-girlfriend is an employee. Someone at the restaurant asked the person to leave, but he refused. An officer spoke with the person, who appeared to be intoxicated. He was served with a no-trespass notice and left the restaurant without any problems. Sofa theft The director for At Home store, 265 Route 83, informed police that a man was seen leaving the building with a gray love seat sofa without paying for it about 4:30 pm. Nov. 21. The incident was reported three days later. The man was described as white, balding, having a medium build, and wearing a large coat. He was with an elderly white woman, who had shoulder-length gray hair. The case is pending an investigation. Employment scam A resident in the 100 block of East Quincy Street told police Wednesday that she had been in contact with a suspect about an employment opportunity. She received a check and was instructed to deposit it and wire the amount to strangers. The resident later learned it was a scam. She contacted her bank, which stated it would follow up with a fraud specialist. Email in violation A resident in the 400 block of West Third Street told police Wednesday that a suspect sent an unsolicited email, which violated the conditions of the suspect's probation. The DuPage County State's Attorney's Office said it would monitor the suspect's probation. Explicit images A person told police that a suspect texted several explicit images to family members, including to a youth. The case is pending an investigation. Damage to house A door was found open at a vacant house Friday in the 200 block of North Glade Avenue. The front and back door frames were damaged. Curfew violations Two youths were found in a vehicle about 2 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of South Route 83. They were cited with violating the local curfew and released to their parents. Fraudulent transaction A resident in the 200 block of West Montrose Avenue told police Nov. 27 that he discovered a fraudulent transaction on his PayPal account.
