UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A fire broke out in an Upper East Side restaurant early Tuesday, injuring four firefighters when the ceiling collapsed, according to authorities. The blaze began around 5 a.m. inside Dragon One, a Chinese restaurant on First Avenue and East 95th Street. After starting on the first floor, the fire spread up to the third floor of the five-story brick building. It took well over 100 firefighters more than three hours to bring the four-alarm fire under control, and the area was still swarmed with emergency vehicles shortly after 9 a.m. The city advised residents to avoid the area and close windows to prevent smoke from seeping in.
