Middle aged bass player with over 30 years playing & gigging experience looking to join a band, either already formed or a start up. I have a full time career and am not looking to play for a living, I would like to get paid for gigs though, ideal situation would be rehearsing one a week at night and gigging 1-2 weekends a month. Prefer to keep in in Ventura or Ventura County. Looking for other experienced players in a similar situation. Drug free, non-smoker, reliable, good transportation and gear. Sorry I can not contribute much vocalwise. Also would like to find a situation that is easy to market and sell for paying gigs, I'd be more interested if its more than just a random set list of songs everyone can agree on. I know from experience the more successful cover acts have some hook or theme that's easy to sell and attract a core audience. Types of music I'd like to play and would consider: Mix of classic rock covers from the 50's 60's 70's early 80's. Dedicated 60's cover band. Dedicated 70's cover band. Dedicated early 80's new wave, early MTV type cover band. High energy 50's early 60's cover band ala Cavern era Beatles or Paul McCartney Run Devil Run style. Will consider fill in work that matches anything above. Types of music and situations i'm NOT interested in: Pretty much any covers that date from after 1986. No 90's or later covers (maybe a few exceptions) Any band with Stone Temple Pilots in their set lists No Metal, punk. No modern country. No originals. Jamming. Must have a working song list and a plan or some sort.
