Description

Volunteer with Columbus Gives Back and Community Development for All People at their Free Store Christmas Shop Columbus Gives Back invites you to join our team for assisting shoppers of the CD4AP Free Store and their Christmas Shop! What: There will be volunteer positions known as "elves," who assist each shopper as they move through the process. Each table with gifts will have two volunteers placing items in carts to minimize who's handling the merchandise. The gift wrapping station will need volunteers as well. Participants will not be wrapping gifts on site this year. Rather, volunteers will hand out pre packaged gift wrapping kits to each family. Social distancing will be observed as much as possible, and everyone is required to wear masks, of course. Volunteers will also be cleaning and sanitizing high touch surfaces throughout the event. Where: Community Development for All People, 946 Parsons Ave, Columbus, OH 43206 Accessibility: This location and tasks are suitable for volunteers with alternative accessibility requirements. When: Saturday, December 19th 10:30am - 2:00pm Event Leader(s): [email protected] COVID-19 Precautions: Due to the current stay-at-home advisory in place in Franklin county, Columbus Gives Back is limiting the number/type of events on our calendar through the end of the year. All Columbus Gives Back volunteers are required to wear face masks and observe social distancing as appropriate to complete volunteer tasks. Volunteers who are sick, especially with fever or the growing number of Covid-19 symptoms, should stay home. We highly recommend that our volunteers wash their hands, use hand sanitizer at the beginning and end of the event, and/or wear gloves. We will follow whatever safety policy our nonprofit partners have in addition to the safety precautions listed above. Any volunteers determined to neglect these precautions and put other volunteers or the people we serve at risk will be dismissed from the event. In an effort to keep our volunteers, event leaders, and non-profit partners safe we ask that each volunteer or event leader sign up for no more than one event in a seven-day period, in order to limit the number of individuals you come into contact with if you are exposed to Covid-19. If you were exposed before or test positive after having participated in a CGB event, please contact the event leader or reach out to [email protected] so that we can best support contact tracing efforts. About the CD4AP Free Store: The United Methodist Free Store provides gently used clothing and household items to individuals and families in a hospitable atmosphere that affirms the self-worth of each individual. More than 50,000 families have become members of the Free Store since we opened our doors in January 1999. About Columbus Gives Back: We love Columbus, young professionals, and getting involved! Our mission is to connect young professionals across central Ohio and engage them in our communities through 35-40 social volunteer and philanthropic opportunities per month. #SocialTwist: Social Twists have been suspended until further notice, but typically we will also encourage volunteers to join us afterwards for food and drinks to better get to know the other cool folks in our group! Rather we encourage each of our volunteers to support local business during this time.
