Jewish Family & Child Service has a mission to is to improve the quality of life and self-sufficiency of the Jewish and broader communities throughout the Portland metro area in accordance with Jewish values. The purpose of the position is to: provide direct non-medical homecare services to older adults and people with disabilities enabling them to live independently in their own homes. We currently have an opening for a Homemaker Assistant with a flexible schedule who is willing to take on permanent clients and is also available to pick up shifts when other homemakers are out sick or on vacation. Services are provided Monday through Friday between 9:00am-5:00pm--no weekends or evenings. JOB DUTIES INCLUDE: • Light housekeeping, laundry, cooking/meal planning, shopping, companionship and transportation. • Meal preparation: planning and cooking healthy meals • Transportation to appointments or errands *mileage incurred on the job (not to and from work) is reimbursed • Social support and companionship • Writing summaries of services provided • Other duties as assigned *Homemakers do not provide personal or medical care • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 18+ years of age • Eligibility to work in the US • Valid Oregon Driver's License, reliable automobile, proof of valid auto insurance in your name • Ability/willingness to drive to ALL locations where clients are served - Portland, Tigard, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Bethany, Gresham, etc. • Cell phone • Daily access to computer with internet; ability to use email, etc • Conversation English skills, and some ability to read and write in English PREFERRED SKILLS -Bi-lingual: Conversational Russian proficiency -Prior experience in caregiving or social services, experience working with the elderly or people with mental or physical disabilities.
