Description
The Nichols House Museum invites you to join us for the Beacon Hill Holiday Wreath Tour! The Tour offers an outdoor self-guided walking tour of a selection of Beacon Hill homes decorated with wreaths, garlands, and window displays. Highlighting the unique architectural histories of these properties, the program guides visitors through this historic neighborhood at its most festive. We're decking the halls of the Nichols House Museum and it will be open for self-guided tours during the event, as well as — in an exciting addition to this year's event — the historic home of the Colonial Society of Massachusetts on Mount Vernon Street. Light refreshments will also be included on the tour. This year, a drawing will be held for $250 gift certificates donated by notable florists and garden designers across Boston. Wisteria & Rose The Nichols House Museum is a Federal period townhouse where the collection tells the story of the politically and socially progressive Nichols family that lived in the home from 1885-1960. Through our Special Event Series, the Nichols House Museum seeks to provide exciting and intellectually stimulating opportunities for the general public by creating unexpected experiences, unique environments and meaningful connections with regional and national artists, experts, and luminaries. The Nichols House Museum preserves and interprets the 1804 Federal townhouse that was home to landscape gardener, suffragist and pacifist Rose Standish Nichols and her family. Their home and its original art and furnishings provide a glimpse into life on historic Beacon Hill from the mid-19th to mid-20th century. The museum educates and inspires the public through innovative programs, and it continues the conversation on the social concerns the Nichols family embraced that are still relevant today.
