We've put a Holiday Twist on A Tale for Two! Young readers are invited to share in the holiday spirit with our shelter animals On Monday, December 20th, we have given our Tale for Two program a holiday twist! In addition to reading to our shelter animals, participating children are invited to participate in our Santa Paws Gift Exchange! Children can bring in an item from our wish list , and we will have some small goodies they can choose from in return. You can view our current wish list here. We will also have some holiday cookies to enjoy and some crafts children can participate in while visiting the shelter. Plus, our very own Mrs. Paws will be on site to celebrate with everyone. Limited spots are available for this special event, so register now to reserve your spot! To reserve a space for your child, select either the cattery or kennel when you choose your ticket option. There is no set ticket price, although we ask for a suggested donation of $5. There is limited space for this unique opportunity. Thank you for your support. A Tale for Two is an extension of our Listening Ears Program which pairs a young reader with an animal to make the experience of reading more fun. By bringing the readers to our shelter, our adoptable cats and dogs get to benefit from the positive presence of a child, boosting confidence in both the pet and the person. This in-shelter reading program is open to youth ages 6-13. It is the mission of the Virginia Beach Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (VBSPCA) to create a more humane and responsible community by eliminating animal suffering while increasing human compassion.
