Description

Don't miss an amazing performance and Christmas tradition since 2005! Tickets are $20.00 at the door. Suitable for ages 10-110. THE STORY: Charles Dickens' 1867 American Reading Tour is off to a rough start. Due to an inexplicable loss of his luggage, he regretfully announces that he will be unable to read from his beloved classic, "A Christmas Carol". All is not lost however; Dickens delivers what he promised by performing from memory the magical story of Ebenezer Scrooge's journey from miserliness to redemption with warmth and humor. This one-man play is based on the condensed version Dickens himself used on his historic reading tours of the United States and is adapted here to offer a unique theatrical experience. One actor. One hour! This show is rated G and is suitable for adults and children over ten (10) years of age. Join us! This terrific performance kicks off our annual Hessian American Revolutionary War Christmas celebration. Following Greg's performance, at 4 p.m., we gather at historic East Hillside Cemetery, in nearby Old Brookville, for a Christmas tree lighting and caroling amidst the graves of Patriots, Loyalists, and Hessian mercenary soldiers, who were under British command during the seven year Occupation of Long Island (hot cider served, event is free). Following this ceremony, we return to the Reformed Church of Locust Valley for another Christmas tree lighting and caroling at 6 p.m., with a cocktail party inside, 5:30-7 p.m. (event is free; hot cider served for caroling. Those attending cocktail party encouraged but not expected to bring some Christmas cheer and a wrapped present for a child, for our annual delivery of presents to the Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park). At 7 p.m. we conclude with a delicious authentic German dinner and continued party, with Christmas music. For this event we do need paid RSVPs ($40.00 pp) by December 8th. Please join us for one or all of our fun events! We work hard to provide something for everyone and every age, knowing that it's a busy time of year. Even if you only have time for a quick eggnog, please come by and add to our Christmas festivities. See our website for more details www.cedarswamp.org
