At Pavement Coffeehouse, Overnight Bakers are responsible for the craft and care that goes into making our fresh homemade bagels. Our bagels are baked fresh every day so that our customers have the highest quality product possible. Bakers need to be reliable, consistent, and have great attention to detail. You are responsible for getting the best possible bagels to our customers each and every day. You will: -Bake all bakery products according to recipes established and as directed by the management team using equipment and tools such as: rotating hearth bagel oven, boiling kettle, blodgett double ovens, mixers, etc. -Observe and inspect bagels during the baking process and make necessary adjustments in the moment. Communicate those changes or problems to the kitchen manager. -Read and interpret orders and inventory of bagels. -Assist in sorting bagels accurately for delivery according to store orders. -Clean, re-stock, and prepare work stations and equipment for the next shift or day. -Maintain reliable and consistent time and attendance. Have flexibility around weekends and holidays. Below are some of the physical demands the job will make of you. • Ability to stand and walk for longs period of time. You'll be on your feet for most of the shift moving between stations. • Use of hands to reach, grip & perform specific movements. You'll use your hands to operate the oven, handle knives, use tools to boil the bagels (among other responsibilities) • Squat, bend, and reach for items below your waist and above your shoulders. For example, you will need to bend down to grab product, or reach above to grab items • Ability to push/pull, lift/carry or move up to 50 pounds. For example, you'll move bins full of bagels, move daily orders, change trashes and carry dishes • Climbing stairs and ladders. You may need to use a step ladder to reach something or navigate up & down stairs to access storage areas. • Ability to listen and speak.
