The Preparedness Practicum focuses on Lessons learned from recent events Speakers include: Dr. Nathan Chomilo on Health Equity Clint Watts on DisinformationDr. Ben Abo speaking on lessons learned from the Surfside Condominium collapseCOURSE GOAL Enhance and improve the preparedness of Minnesota hospitals and healthcare facilities by providing education from lessons learned to providers and other members of the preparedness team. The educational experience will include review of didactic information relevant to the planning and care practices of all involved in preparedness planning. OVERALL LEARNING OBJECTIVES Following this activity, participants should be able to: Apply lessons learned in communication and multi-agency coordination during recent disasters and incidents.Identify critical aspects of staff and patient protection during disaster/special incident response.Integrate best practices and lessons learned from recent incidents and exercises into facility response planning. Planning, training, and exercise activities are determined through regional workgroups, grant guidance and the needs or gaps identified by Coalition members. The training is planned through regional workgroups and presented in an annual conference, and ongoing classes and workshops. Topics address all areas of study and planning that will enhance and improve the preparedness and sustainability of Minnesota’s emergency management with regard to healthcare services.
