NORTH PORT, FL — A 103-year-old North Port woman died after a three-car crash in North Port Thanksgiving morning, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
She was the passenger in a car driven by a 68-year-old North Port woman, who was also critically injured in the crash. The driver wasn't wearing a seat belt, FHP said.
Around 9:20 a.m. Thursday, the 68-year-old was driving east on U.S. 41 when she turned left onto Ortiz Boulevard and hit a car driven by a 27-year-old North Port man that was heading west on the highway.
The second car rotated and hit a car driven by a 66-year-old North Port man that was stopped at a red light on Ortiz Boulevard and facing south.
The 103-year-old woman was brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the third car and his passenger, a 65-year-old North Port woman, sustained minor injuries in the crash. The 27-year-old was uninjured.
