NEW YORK CITY — A vaccination milestone in New York City passed quietly as city dwellers worried about the omicron coronavirus variant. More than 12.5 million doses of vaccine have been administered in the city, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Monday. "Just a staggering effort, and it is going to grow a lot," he said. But vaccination doses have recently been on the decline, even after federal approval for boosters for adult adults. The daily average of vaccinations per day hit a recent spike of 19,051 on Nov. 12, according to city data. By Nov. 21, they fell to 15,948 a day — and that was the span when boosters for all adults got the green light. De Blasio and Gov. Kathy Hochul have both said a key component in the fight against the omicron variant will be vaccinations.
