LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Free COVID-19 testing events will be held every Tuesday through the end of the year in Loudoun County, the health department announced on Monday. The health department reinstituted the weekly events earlier this fall after a surge in cases caused by the delta variant of COVID-19. The events are held in a drive-through format, and are held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Tuesday. Here are the dates and locations for each free COVID-19 testing event in Loudoun County through the end of the year: November 30: Franklin Park, 17501 Franklin Park Drive, Purcellville.December 7: Dulles South Recreation & Community Center, 24950 Riding Center Drive, South RidingDecember 14: Franklin Park, 17501 Franklin Park Drive, PurcellvilleDecember 21: Claude Moore Park, 46150 Loudoun Park Lane in SterlingDecember 28: Philip A. Bolen Memorial Park, 42405 Claudia Drive, Leesburg (Enter the park on Crosstrail Boulevard from Sycolin Road.)The free testing events are open to any members of the public and there are no age or residency requirements. The tests are PCR nasal swabs, and no rapid tests will be offered, officials said. "Public health officials encourage anyone, regardless of vaccination status, who thinks they may have been exposed to COVID-19 to get tested as well as anyone exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue and a new loss of taste or smell," the county said in a news release. "In addition, anyone who traveled for the Thanksgiving holiday or plans to travel for the December holidays and gather with family and friends is also encouraged to get tested a few days before and after traveling or gathering in groups." Appointments are not required to attend the testing events, though participants can reduce wait times by filling out a registration form in advance. Those attending a testing event can print the form and bring it with them. Have a story idea? Email me at [email protected] with tips, questions, comments, or concerns.
