Here are the top stories in Burlington today: Over the next eight days, menorahs will be lit throughout Vermont. On Sunday night in Burlington, the tallest menorah in the state got its time to shine. This annual tradition at the University of Vermont gives people a chance to see the structure from the road, providing the opportunity to educate the youth on the message of Hanukkah. (WCAX)Governor Phil Scott and his administration are closely following the news about the Omicron variant of COVID-19, which has been detected in several countries — including Canada — but not yet in the United States. State officials will be watching infection numbers closely to see if they rose during the four-day Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Meanwhile, Vermont is still struggling to quell a surge of the Delta variant that surfaced this summer.
