Newark Teen Dies In Quadruple Shooting; No Arrests Made: Police

NEWARK, NJ — A Newark teen died in a quadruple shooting that also injured three other juveniles on Saturday night, authorities said. The shooting took place on the 900-block of Bergen Street around 9 p.m., according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety. Police said that men in a vehicle opened fire on the four victims, including Djiba Kaba, 17. Kaba, a Newark resident, was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:41 p.m. The other victims – a male and two females – were also taken to University Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said. No arrests have been made as of Sunday evening, authorities stated. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the shooting.
