SALEM, NH — New Hampshire State Police are attempting to identify a wrong-way driver on Interstate 93 on Sunday that troopers were tracking and attempting to pull over but later eluded them. Around 10:15 p.m., Troop B trooper began receiving calls about a vehicle traveling south on the northbound side in the area of Exit 6 in Manchester. Troopers, according to Lt. Bryan Trask, responded to the area as the vehicle approached the lower split at the junction of I-93 and I-293. "Trooper Winslow made his way northbound through Londonderry where he encountered the vehicle still traveling the wrong way in the area of Mile Marker 13.4," he said. "Trooper Winslow was unable to get the operator to stop. Trooper Winslow took the next crossover and was able to catch up to the vehicle, now following it from the southbound side as troopers and local authorities attempted to get in position to deploy a stopping tactic." Troopers drove parallel to the vehicle, described as a 2000s dark-colored Ford SUV, on the southbound side with their cruiser lights activated an in effort to get the vehicle to stop. While near the weigh station in Windham, troopers lost sight of the vehicle due to a tree line dividing the median near Mile Marker 6, Trask said. "Troopers and local authorities had set up in the crossovers immediately south of the Exit 3 off-ramp anticipating that it would continue southbound in the northbound lane," Trask said. "But the vehicle had either corrected its path of travel or gotten off the highway via the Exit 3 northbound onramp." Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or information regarding additional make, model, or plate information, or who may have dashcam footage of the event is asked to contact Trooper Jacob Winslow at 603-223-4381 or [email protected].
