WASHINGTON CROSSING, PA — Police have arrested a suspect in two early November burglaries, one from a convenience store and one from a pharmacy. The Upper Makefield Township Police Department said Nov. 24 that officers had arrested 57-year-old Jay R. Boyce. Boyce is a Bridgeton, New Jersey resident, and is suspected in the two break-ins. On Nov. 3, in what police say was the first commercial burglary of the year, someone smashed the front glass door at Circle K and stole the lottery cash drawer as well as cigarettes. Then, on Nov. 4, someone smashed the side windows of the Heritage Pharmacy and stole medications. Boyce is being held in Camden County Jail, after charges in connection with the cases were filed. The township had experienced no burglaries this year, according to police, until a residential break-in in the Longmeadow development on Oct. 30 and another in the Weatherfield development on Nov. 19. "In both instances, rear glass doors were smashed in order to unlawfully enter the home with jewelry and purses being stolen," police said. Police are still investigating the spate of residential burglaries in Bucks County and the surrounding area this fall, according to the update.
