In the realm of live theater sound, a competent and knowledgeable Sound Designer is sometimes hard to find. And one that is passionate about their craft. I got my first taste of Sound Design purely by happenstance while living in Monterey, California in 2017. I was perusing the Craigslist want ads and came across one for a production of 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime' at the Pacific Repertory Theater and I answered. I was contacted pretty quickly and walked into the interview totally unprepared. In the end, I got the job and have loved everything about live theater ever since. My Sound Design resume started there with Curious Incident and included an eleven (11) minute train station sequence that was crafted over two weeks and using elements of both downloaded sounds and Foley taken from the tracks, the nearest Amtrak station and footsteps and muffled conversations taken from local coffee shops. It was edited down to two and a half minutes for the final production. Since, I've worked on Disney's 'The Little Mermaid', 'Pinocchio', 'Mama Mia', MTI's 'All Together Now' and am always out looking for things to record that may be later used on an actual production.
