Drunken Driver Hits Car, Crashes Into Mentor Storefront: Police

MENTOR, OH — A driver hit a car and then drove into an empty storefront on Mentor Avenue on Sunday afternoon, Mentor police announced. At approximately 3 p.m., a 27-year-old woman, with her son in her car, was driving away from Great Lakes Mall. As she approached Mentor Avenue, she ignored a red light, drove onto the road and hit a car, police said. According to a police spokesperson, after the collision, the 27-year-old continued driving north and crashed into the vacant Pier One building at 7777 Mentor Ave. Live in Mentor? The 27-year-old's son, a 7-year-old boy from Perry, was taken to Lake West Medical Center with minor injuries, police said. The woman faces charges of operating a vehicle impaired, ignoring a red light, driving with a suspended license, endangering children and more, police said.
