Description
CONCORD, CA — Local school districts in Concord need substitute teachers, and anyone with at least a bachelor's degree may apply.
In an appeal for substitutes earlier this fall, Contra Costa County Superintendent of Schools Lynn Mackey said, "All you need is to have a bachelor's degree, basic subject-matter proficiency, and a passion for working with students."
Mackey pointed out that more than 13,500 teachers retired across California at the end of last year, setting up a shortage of full-time and substitute educators.
"Being a substitute teacher is a great opportunity for retirees, recent college graduates, or those looking for flexible, part-time work," said Mackey. "Being a sub is also a great way to see if the education field is the career for you."
At this website you can apply to be a substitute teacher at any local school district in Contra Costa County.
