AURORA, IL — No injuries were reported after a red sedan ended up in a pond near the intersection of Butterfield Road and North Eola Road around 9:23 p.m. Sunday, Aurora police said. The 23-year-old driver, the car's only occupant, was driving east on Butterfield Road, near Eola Road, when he looked away from the road and abruptly drove off the right shoulder before stopping at the edge of a nearby pond, police told Patch. No other cars were involved in the crash, police said. By the time officials alerted the community on Facebook of the incident, the man was out of the car. The roadway didn't close but police recommended drivers find different routes. The area was clear about two hours later.
