Happy Monday, Atlanta! Here's everything you need to know in Atlanta today. First, today's weather: Plenty of sunshine. High: 56 Low: 38. Here are the top stories today in Atlanta: Months after fire severely damaged a bridge on Cheshire Bridge Road, another large fire broke out Saturday afternoon under another bridge on the same road. In video shared by Atlanta Fire Company 29, black smoke billowed up from under an overpass near I-285 where Cheshire Bridge turns into Lenox Road. The extent of the damage has not been disclosed and, while the heat caused warped steel and affected the concrete, officials have not said if the bridge will need repairs. No one was injured in the incident. The Georgia Festival of Trees, open at GWCC through Dec. 4, will feature a Tuesday auction of Christmas trees, wreaths, centerpieces and nativities. Auction proceeds will benefit Wellspring Living, a metro Atlanta nonprofit that supports survivors of human trafficking. Additionally, Santa and his elves will be available for photos in their sleigh at the College Football Hall of Fame. Tickets to both events are available at gafestivaloftrees.org. (FOX 5 Atlanta) After nearly 2,000 guns have been stolen from vehicles in Atlanta this year, the Atlanta Police Department is pleading with residents to stop leaving weapons unsecured in cars. Because these stolen firearms typically end up in the hands of criminals, police are asking drivers to take their guns with them. Or, when weapons must be left in vehicles, officials are requesting owners secure them, making them more difficult to steal and end up in the wrong hands. (CBS46 News Atlanta)A freight train derailed in Hiram, one of Atlanta's northwest suburbs, late Saturday, blocking roads and slightly injuring two crew members. The Norfolk Southern Railway locomotive and seven freight cars that overturned were part of a 88-car train. Two crew members of Atlanta-based Norfolk Southern were taken to a nearby hospital and released early Sunday. Hiram police say some streets could be closed through today while crews work to lift the derailed cars and reopen the track. Norfolk Southern is investigating the cause of the derailment.
