Food & Friends provides medically-tailored meals, nutrition counseling, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of sixty-five employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and several counties across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need. We seek a Facilities Director to spearhead the maintenance and operation of our 26,000 square foot facility on 1.5 acres of land. The Facilities Director will: • supervise custodial staff and security personnel; • monitor and maintain (with contractor assistance) all building systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, elevator, diesel emergency generator, refrigeration units, and electronic security system; • ensure that grounds are well maintained and clear of ice and snow; • manage relations with a variety of vendors and contractors; • develop emergency response plans in collaboration with senior management; • assist with ADA and OSHA compliance; and • budget and monitor facility-related expenditures. Additionally, the Facilities Director will respond to after-hours and weekend alarm and emergency maintenance events. This is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned facility operations professional who desires to make a difference in their community. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma (some college a plus) and at least four years of intermediate facilities experience. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Other requirements include a valid driver’s license; knowledge of major building systems; ability to be physically mobile and able to stand, grasp, stoop, climb, pull, push, and walk; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; good written and verbal communication skills; comfort using computers; and an appreciation for diversity. Experience working in a food facility helpful.
