Nominate a Champion for Children in Charles County, MD About Tri-County Youth Services Bureau (TCYSB) offers a wide range of services to meet the needs of children, youth, and families in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's counties.The Youth Service Bureau functions as an advocate for the needs of youth and families. TCYSB is a non-profit 501©3 Tri-County Youth Services Bureau will honor local “Champions for Children” on Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Old Waldorf School in Waldorf, MD. The awards will recognize exemplary child advocates in Charles County. Award Categories : 1. Educational Opportunities: given to an educator, community leader, volunteer, or group who has increased educational opportunities for children and families. 2. Healthy Children: given to a professional, community leader, volunteer, or group who has advocated for family/child friendly policies and programs, promoted children’s physical and emotional health, prevented child abuse, or improved the well-being of children and families. 3. Strong Families: given to a parent, caregiver (including grandparents and foster parents), community leader, volunteer, or group who has advocated for family/child friendly policies and programs, strengthened families, promoted safe communities, or increased economic opportunities for children and families. 4. Closing the Achievement Gap: given to an educator, community leader, volunteer, or group who is involved in activities that are helping to close the achievement gap for students in our community. 5. Youth: given to a young person (21 years or younger) who has demonstrated exemplary courage, creativity, leadership, and commitment.
