In this course we will cover; Competency and Scope of Practice; Instructions for use; Anatomy and Physiology; Fluid and Electrolyte Balance; Infection Control; IV Tubing Line Setup; IV Fluid Calculations; IV Tubing Change Frequency; Skin Care and infection control; Peripheral IV Insertion; Equipment Techniques in Venipuncture; Troubleshooting IV Infusion; IV assessment; Discontinuing IV Therapy; Documentation; Complications of IV Therapy. Each student must successfully start 10 IVs as well as discontinue them and pass all skills competency testing before the certification is issued. Upon successful completion of the course and the hands on skill practice and testing, students will receive certification for the course.
