Food, Dance, Tales, Folklore and Drama celebration of people Yoruba origins organized by the people of Yoruba descent domicile in Texas.
Guest Topic - Cultural Origins of the Yoruba Talking Drums
Guest Artist - Master Drummer - David Alayande, former chief drummer for award-winning King Sunny Ade
What are those drums saying? How do Yoruba kings wake up and talk to their subjects? How is drumming in a wedding ceremony different from a call to battle or a dirge? How do Yoruba people talk to their gods?
Ayan Alayande is the resident teacher at the Yoruba Cultural Center where many churches hire him to train their drummers among other performing artists under his tutelage. He will thrill us with his unusual mastery that always has the entire audience jiggling and twerking.
Listeners to this program will be identified stakeholders including the Yoruba people worldwide, those from other tribes who are interested in testing the possibility of a peaceful exit of an African from the current colonialism-imposed boundaries in its current campaign of liberation. They will be from all ages and genders. The program will specifically target the Generation Z community who will be the direct beneficiaries of the successful outcome of the debate.
