After seeing & experiencing chair massage from Steve Citty at a health fair in the Candy Factory in Knoxville, I new that I wanted to do chair massage. I soon began massage training which included chair massage training by David Palmer of TouchPro Institute.. I was accepted as a Professional Member of the American Massage Therapy Association and the Tennessee Massage Therapy Association. I began MassageWorks in 1994. Tennessee instituted licensing in 1995. My license number is 64. At some point I developed an interest in kinesiology and, in 2002, began studying kinesiology with Arlene Green at the US Kinesiology Institute in Chapel Hill, NC. In 2003 I became a Touch for Health® Kinesiology Certified Instructor. Continued studies included the Professional Kinesiology Program which led to my becoming a Certified K-Power® Instructor in 2008. In 2006, I did a 200-hour intensive at the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, CA, for Acupressure for Stress. My bodywork is a meridian, muscle, body/mind balancing approach incorporating with Eastern and Western techniques. MassageWorks became an Approved Provider for the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in 2008. And, in 2010, MassageWorks became an Approved Provider for Florida. In 2009, I became a Certified Instructor for Dr. Paul Lam‘s Tai Chi for Arthritis. I’m a kinesiologist and manual therapist incorporating Touch for Health Kinesiology, acupressure, cupping, Microcurrent Point Stimulation, cranial/structural balancing, osteopathic manual therapy, Structural Energetic Therapy, and other modalities to relieve pain and stress.
