A conference to bring awareness about the 13,655 people serving life sentences in Florida. Society-First is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to bring about social and criminal justice reform. Our mission is the promotion of a system that focuses on preventing future victimization rather than a system based on punishment. Florida has 81,496 total inmates of which 13,655 (17%) are people serving life sentences. We are hoping that you will see that a sentence of LWOP essentially equates to a slow death sentence. Florida ended parole in 1983 and we want to convince lawmakers to restore parole to those who are worthy of redemption after being incarcerated for decades.
